OpenAI launches Health in ChatGPT for U.S. users

OpenAI began rolling out Health in ChatGPT to logged-in U.S. users aged 18 and older on 23 July. The dedicated experience can connect Apple Health, supported medical records and selected wellness services, then help people explore trends and prepare questions for care professionals.

OpenAI says connected health data and Health conversations are not used to train foundation models or target advertising. Access is permission-based, available on web and iOS across Free, Go, Plus and Pro, and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

For organisations, the launch is a useful reminder that sensitive-data AI needs a distinct operating model: clear purpose limitation, explicit consent, strong isolation and human accountability. Dutch teams should also assess GDPR and sector-specific requirements before building comparable workflows.
